It is never too early to schedule your newborn photo session. Most clients book with me in the second or third trimester of their pregnancy. To accommodate baby's arrivals, I accept limited bookings each month. Limiting bookings allows for a little extra delivery, wiggle room on my calendar.
Booking 4 - 6 weeks in advance is a great rule of thumb.
when is the best time to book my baby's newborn photography session?
Term newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks of birth.
Twin newborns are best photographed within two weeks of being home and feeding well. During this time, newborns are quite sleepy, snuggly and curly from the womb. Because of that, they are easier to position into those beautiful sleepy, curly poses. I am always open to photographing any age baby or child. It is never too late for a photo session. Every stage of life is important to document.
how soon will my newborn session take place after birth
It is still possible to capture your baby outside the two week window, however, it fully depends on your baby and how comfortable they are in certain poses. It is always possible to capture beautiful pictures no matter the age. I am always baby-led, which means that if a baby shows me that they are uncomfortable in any position, I abandon that pose and try something different.

My baby is already past two weeks old, is it too late?
I certainly do! I like to remind parents that I always try to capture great sibling shots, but it fully depends on the sibling's willingness and cooperation. It is not the focus of the newborn session and I like to set a certain time in the session for a sibling to come for their part and then, if possible, leave with someone who is not immediately involved in the photo session. If it proves to be too difficult or unsafe, I will move on. I ask that you not set too high a standard for your toddler at the newborn session, particularly siblings three years old and under.
Do you include siblings in your newborn sessions?
I offer a Maternity/Newborn Combo deal. If you book your maternity session, you get $100 off your newborn session fee. I do not offer any other discounts or reductions. There are times that I will offer mini sessions, and they are usually associated with major holidays and offered at my discretion. I do not compete with new photographers. I stand behind my products, work, experience and account for this in my pricing. Thank you so much for your understanding.
